About Our Class
Welcome to Room 1 at Eagle Point Primary School! We are very lucky to have a lovely class of 16 Grade F/1 students.
We have a blast learning in room, and enjoy having fun with our classmates.
Each morning we begin with our 2 hour Literacy block. Our block nurtures the development of skills our students need for successful reading and viewing, writing, speaking annd listening. We have incorporated all the components of The Big 6 being: oral language, phonological awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency and comprehension.
We begin with our Soundwaves lesson ( our systematic synthetic phonics program or "SSP") where we are learning about our letters and sounds. This forms the basis of reading and writing for our students and equips them with the skills and knowledge they need to decode words (read) and encode ( write) their own texts. This is a very enjoyable part of the morning as the children love using mini whiteboards to write their new sounds, words and even write a short sentence.
For our Reading and Writing compenent, we explore the texts of different authors and also different genres. We are learning to document our thinking about the books we read, and to then share our thoughts with others. We are learning strategies to help us read, and we are enjoying learning to write and creating our own little books to share.
In our Numeracy block we begin each day by viewing a fun number talk image! This helps us to develop our number sense, speaking and listening skills as well as "seeing" the thinking of our classmates. We are learning various math concepts such as numbers, counting, addition, subtraction, sharing, measurement and shape. Maths is very hands on, and each day you will find us learning by playing math games, using many different hands on materials such as pom poms, counters, teddys, hippos, buttons etc. We also love to explore math concepts out in the playground and often head out to find natural items to count, meaure, sort, and order.
Every Tuesday our class enjoys Performing Arts ( Miss Bradbury) and P.E, ( Mrs Simpson) and on Wednesday we love getting into the Art room with Ms. Buckwell ( fun fact: Ms Buckwell is also our classroom teacher each Friday!).
Our afternoons are full of fun and enjoyable activities. Each day is very different! You will often find us enjoying experiences such as Arts and Craft, Yoga, Junior Sports, Nature Play and Indoor Games as we look forward to a slower pace after our busy mornings. Each Tuesday we are very fortunate to have Rosette come into our class and teach us all about AUSLAN.
Our early years at school are comprised of Reading, Writing, Oral Langauge, Spelling, Mathematics, Science, PE, Art and Social Skills. Each of our students will have their learning program tailored to their individual needs, whilst still taking part in our inclusive educational setting.
We are in the Blue room with lots of rainbows and colours. We love singing and dancing, reading new books, going outside for brain breaks, using our "special" textas oh, and our classroom Pet, "Scooter" the blue Monster!

About Our Class
Welcome to Room 2 at Eagle Point Primary School. We are a busy bunch of 16 Prep/Grade 1 students.
We love exploring new concepts and learning as well as having fun with our friends!
During the literacy block every morning we have Sound Waves sessions where we learn all the letter names and sounds. This helps us during reading and writing as we learn to segment and blend sounds together to make words. We explore different genres and authors and learn to talk about our thinking as we are reading. We learn many strategies to help us read and and write and celebrate our successes!
In numeracy we explore various maths concepts such as numbers, counting, addition, subtraction, measurement and shapes. Maths is very hands on so we use different materials to help us, such as Unifix cubes, icy pole sticks, counters, dice, buttons and pom poms. We learn different strategies for solving addition and subtraction problems.
We look forward to Performing Art and P.E. on Tuesday as well as Art on Wednesday. We enjoy participating in games outside on Thursdays with the other junior classes, as well as having brain breaks to help us focus on our learning. Our favourite game to play is 'Everybody's It'! In the junior classes we get to go on excursions once a year, sometimes it's to the Buchan Caves, Raymond Island, Cape Conran or the Melbourne Zoo!
The early years of primary school focus around the core skills of reading, writing, spelling, mathematics, science, physical education, art and social skills. We work very hard to ensure that learning is targeted to each child’s individual needs by providing differentiated tasks.
We can be found in the orange room, we would love to see you!

About Our Class
In Room 4 we strive to create a nurturing and fun learning environment, where we celebrate each other as learners. We have a beautiful little class of 21 One/Two students,
We understand that each of our students brings with them to school their very own interests, abilities, needs and experiences- and so we endeavour to create a learning program for our students that encompasses their learning needs as well as catering to their individual interests. All students work with their own fluid learning goals that change with their needs and accomplishments. Learning achievements are celebrated not only in class but at the whole school level, during Quality Work announcements each week during assembly.
In room 4 we have a strong focus on building our classroom community, and this extends further into the school family of Eagle Point Primary School. Our students enjoy many fun and engaging activities with our big Buddy class as well as working collaboratively with the other one/two classes regularly for Junior Sports and Social Skills. Our students enjoy spending time in our beautiful little class library, listening to our class novels and picture books being read, singing and dancing, and having fun with our friends.
In Foundation and Grade One, our learning is centred around building a strong literacy and numeracy foundation for students to create a solid base upon.
LITERACY
We keep busy during our morning Literacy block with our Reading, Writing, and Soundwaves where our students learn the connections between letters and speech sounds. We learn how to decode text and how to encode letters into the sounds we hear- and so they soon begin to read and write! We have a strong emphasis on supporting student’s Oral Language as this is also an important building block for literacy, students love our weekly language experiance.
NUMERACY
In our Numeracy block, our students explore the world around them through a mathematical lens. Our students enjoy our Number Talks where they are challenged to build upon their number sense, problem solving skills as well as developing a range of calculation strategies. Math is a big favourate in room 4. We do lots of hands on activities both in and out of the classroom that are challenging, enjoyable and foster a love for maths.
Our students also enjoy taking part in Science and Social Skills, as well as visiting incursions (such as local authors, artists, environmental scientists etc). Our school is very lucky to have an amazing Specialist Program that our students enjoy each week- Physical Education, Visual Arts and Performing Art add further enrichment to each child’s learning and the children love these special classes. Our students also enjoy learning AUSLAN with our LOTE Teacher.
We love visitors to our grade, we are the YELLOW room (with lots of PLANTS!).

About Our Class
Welcome to one of the Grade 5/6 at Eagle Point Primary School. The Grade 5/6 class consists of 26 students.
Being a senior student at Eagle Point Primary School is a rewarding and opportunity filled experience. There is an expectation that all senior students will take part in leadership roles in some form throughout the school year. A big focus is on the students becoming independent, life-long learners and future community leaders. This involves taking responsibility for thier own decisions and behaviours by applying a choice theory approach to thier choices and actions. This includes being a good role model for our future senior students and school community as well as accepting responsibility for thier own decisions and behaviour. At Eagle Point Primary School our students are fortunate enough to experience many interesting learning opportunities including cooking, robotics, coding, nexus arts, lawn bowls, hockey and many more! Not only are they provided a curriculum that is needs fulfilling, engaging and targets their individual level, they have opportunities to be a part of a ‘Quality’ classroom and display their leadership skills.
We see our classroom as a happy, supportive, challenging learning environment where students are able to explore, be creative and achieve success. As a class we have decided on some Expectations that are based around our school values of Respect, Responsibility, Care, Commitment and Inclusiveness. These Expectations will guide us in our classroom to be the best learners and people we can be.
